Two Detentions in the Aftermath of Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident caused the temporary shutdown of the CTA tunnel and the T3 parking area.

An additional two individuals have been arrested in connection with a theft at London's Heathrow Airport where 21 people were injured by a substance believed to be pepper spray, according to law enforcement.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in Lambeth on suspicion of theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, the force said.

These detentions follow an investigation into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the incident, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their suitcases upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was among the injured in the event. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for medical care and were later released.

Officers detained a man in his thirties on suspicion of theft and assault close to the scene. He was subsequently released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Authorities were called at about 08:10 GMT following reports of several individuals injured by an irritating chemical thought to be pepper spray.

The attack - an event that authorities stated was a standalone incident and not considered an act of terror - caused train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 parking facility for a short time.
