19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hard courts
A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
Medvedev, a ex- number one, has had a torrid season, achieving just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.
Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.
It is the player's first title since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court from that period of that year.
Success also indicates he has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one various events.
"For the first time I have attended a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is really nice," stated world number 14 Medvedev.
"This title is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my child her name was born was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six finals, featuring in Halle earlier this year.
Medvedev's defensive approach and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had caused some to wonder if his skill to play at the highest level was concluded.
However the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and play assertively, supported by an improved serve.
The champion fought back from a break down in the first set against the challenging opponent, taking 4 of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.
The pair traded breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to force a decider.
Moutet defended 4 early-game chances in a tight third set before Medvedev broke to 15 to secure the win.
Appropriately, Medvedev clinched the title with a shot at the net area, with Moutet incapable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
