Cars in German Town Found Covered with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Police mentioned they were notified by a man who discovered a car in Hanau covered with red-colored substance

Around 50 automobiles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postal boxes were defaced, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.

Law enforcement say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.

The substance had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Police then located many other smeared vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials say early analysis indicate the liquid was most likely human blood.

"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; investigators are presently not aware of any harm in connection with the occurrence," they commented.

Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the community for details.

An important representative said the vandalism made him without words and had to be solved quickly.

"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on online, mentioning the killing of nine people by a gunman focusing on people of migrant background in 2020.
